New Year’s Resolutions

It is the New Year and here are a few things you should try and accomplish:

  1. Change your passwords.  Experts recommend changing the passwords on your sensitive accounts (e.g. email, banks, shopping sites, etc.) at least once a year.

  2. Back up your data.  Again, making backups that include all your needed data should be done at least once a year.  Store this backup offsite to make sure a calamity to your main computer does not also affect your back up.

  3. If you have a copyright notice add a year to the legend (i.e. ©  2003–2014 Andrew M. Jaffe, Attorney at Law)

  4. Download any data you need to file your taxes now (e.g. bank & credit card statements) as sometimes the institutions won’t allow you to look back more than a six months or a year and you won’t be able to get all the data you need to fill out your taxes.

I know this sounds like a lot of work, and it is.  Here it is the 16th of January, and I still have one of these goals to complete.  I should be done by the end of the day.
