Privacy Rights for California Minors in the Digital World

Beginning on January 1, 2015, California law now limits what types of products an operator of an Internet Web site, online service, online application, or mobile application directed to minors may advertise or sell to minors.

In addition, this law also allows minors to erase their posts and Operators must place a notice on their site to this effect while providing directions to the minor user about how this is to be accomplished.

This law only applies to sites who direct their content to minors. If you limit the use of your site to those over the age of 18 you need not concern yourself with this new law.

Finally, if you are directing your web site to minors, please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
